Alan Sloyer , M.D.
Alan Sloyer, M.D. is a founding member of North Shore Gastroenterology Associates. He is a 1982 graduate of State University of New York-Downstate Medical Center, College of Medicine where received his M.D. degree with honors.  He was elected a member of Alpha Omega Alpha, the national medical school honor society, in 1982. Prior to entering medical school, he attended Hofstra University where he earned a BA degree, with summa cum laude honors.  He was elected a member of Phi Beta Kappa in 1978.

After graduation from medical school, he entered residency training in Internal Medicine in a combined program at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, New York and at Memorial-Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York.  During that time, he also served as Assistant Chief Resident in the Department of Medicine.  He completed this residency in 1985, and then completed a fellowship in Gastroenterology at Memorial-Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in 1987.   During his fellowship, he was a Paul Sherlock Fellow in Gastrointestinal Oncology as well an American Cancer Society Clinical Fellow in Oncology.

Dr. Sloyer has been in practice since July 1987. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in both Internal Medicine and in Gastroenterology.

Dr. Sloyer actively participates in the education of medical students, residents in Internal Medicine, and fellows in Gastroenterology.  He is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Hofstra University School of Medicine. He also holds a teaching appointment at Memorial-Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (adjunct) in the Department of Medicine.

Dr. Sloyer has attained Fellowship in the American College of Physicians and the American College of Gastroenterology.  He is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology, Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America and the New York State Medical Society.  He attends and presents at many local, national, and international meetings.

Dr. Sloyer is on the professional staffs at North Shore University Hospital (Manhasset and Glen Cove), and at St. Francis Hospital, Roslyn New York.

His interests are largely in the fields of colorectal cancer screening, inflammatory bowel disease and irritable bowel syndrome.  He is an expert endoscopist and performs a large number of colonoscopies and upper endoscopies each year.

Arthur Talansky, M.D.
Arthur Talansky, M.D. is a founding partner of North Shore Gastroenterology Associates, PC in Great Neck, NY and a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at New York University School of Medicine.  He is an attending Gastroenterologist at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, NY, The Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New Hyde Park, NY, the St. Francis Heart Center in Port Washington, NY and North Shore University Hospital at Glen Cove in Glen Cove, NY.   

Board certified in both internal medicine (Diplomate) and gastroenterology (Diplomate), he is a Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology and the American College of Physicians, and a member of the American Gastroenterological Association.  

Dr. Talansky graduated from the Bronx High School of Science, and the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He received his medical degree from The Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, NY in 1977.  He completed his internship and residency at North Shore University Hospital and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York, and completed his fellowship in Gastroenterology at The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, under the mentorship of the late Dr. Henry Janowitz.

Dr. Talansky has been honored to be listed  in the "Top Doctors in the New York Metropolitan Area"  publication for the last 10 years. He has published articles on a variety of gastroenterological issues and specializes in the care of patient's with inflammatory bowel disease including ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease. He has lectured widely to lay and professional groups, and is an active member of the American College of Gastroenterology and the American Gastroenterological Association.


Howard Rattner, M.D.Howard Rattner, M.D. is a 1978 graduate the University of Pennsylvania where he received the prestigious Lukens award given to the outstanding Chemistry major in the senior class. He then attended Downstate Medical School where he was a recipient of the NY State Regents scholarship for medical students graduating in 1982. Dr. Rattner received his Internal Medicine training at the North Shore University Hospital Manhasset, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, completing that combined program in 1985. He completed his Gastroenterology fellowship training at North Shore University Hospital in 1987.

Dr. Rattner is a founding member of North Shore Gastroenterology Associates. He is Board certified in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He is an attending in Gastroenterology at North Shore University Hospital Manhasset, St. Francis Hospital, and North Shore University Hospital at Glen Cove. He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and a Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology.

Dr. Rattner’s interests include colon cancer screening, colonoscopy, helicobacter pylori, inflammatory bowel disease including Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, reflux disease and Barrett’s esophagus, and chronic liver disease including hepatitis C.

Mordecai A. Dicker, M.D.
Mordecai A. Dicker, M.D. began private practice in gastroenterology at NYU Medical Center in 1994, and joined North Shore Gastroenterology Associates in 1998.  He graduated from Queens College in 1984 Summa Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa, and from NYU School of Medicine in 1988.  He then completed his internship and residency in internal medicine and then his fellowship in gastroenterology at NYU Medical Center/Bellevue Hospital.  Over his years of clinical practice, he has also attained fellowships in the American College of Physicians, American College of Gastroenterology, and American Gastroenterological Association.
 
Dr. Dicker is actively involved in the teaching of medical students, interns, residents, and gastroenterology fellows at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset and Glen Cove .  He is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at NYU Medical School .  While at NYU he was instrumental in founding the colon cancer screening program, and did extensive research on virtual colonoscopy.
 
Dr. Dicker is on the professional staffs of St. Francis Hospital , and North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset and Glen Cove . He has special interests in the areas of colon cancer and inflammatory bowel disease.  He is an expert endoscopist/colonoscopist and performs a large number of these procedures yearly.
Chaim S. Abittan, M.D.
Chaim S. Abittan, M.D. joined North Shore Gastroenterology Associates in 2001.  In addition to being a gastroenterologist who is known throughout the New York area for sucessfully performing colonoscopies on high risk patients, Chaim is a hepatologist.  He graduated from the Sackler School of Medicine in Tel Aviv, Israel in 1994 and completed his Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine at North Shore University Hospital at Manhasset and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City in 1997.  He then completed a dual Fellowship in Gastroenterology and Transplant Hepatology at New York City's Mount Sinai Medical Center in 2000.  Chaim had the distinction of being the last fellow to work with the renowned Dr. Henry Janowitz.  During his fellowship, Chaim authored scholarly reseach articles with Dr. Charles  Lieber, a world expert in alcoholic liver disease. 

Chaim is an attending physician at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, NY, North Shore University Hospital at Glen Cove in Glen Cove, NY, and the St. Francis Heart Center in Port Washington, NY.  He is proud to serve on the Medical Executive Board, the Ethics Committee and Blood Utilization Committee at St. Francis Hospital. He is an active member of several professional societies including the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Gastroenterological Association, the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases and the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America.  Chaim is continuosly involved in peer education and gives several lectures a year on the foremost treatments for gastrointestinal ailments.

In 2010, he as appointed an honorary New York City Police Surgeon, and is honored to care for law enforcment officers and their families.   

In addition to being a physician, Chaim is an ordained Orthodox Rabbi who is a board member of the Sephardic Congregation of Long Beach. He lives on long island with his wife, Lisa, and their children.

David Milkes, M.D.
David Milkes, M.D. completed his undergraduate studies at Stanford University earning a BS with Honors in Biology.  He attending the University of California, School of Medicine in San Diego and earned his MD degree in 1996.  He completed his internship and  residency in Internal Medicine at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City.  He returned to Stanford University Medical Center for his fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology where he received additional training in advanced endoscopic procedures including endoscopic mucosal resection and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP).  

David joined North Shore Gastroenterology Associates in 2003.  He has lectured at local and national meetings, has published several book chapters, and has contributed articles to major academic journals including Gatrointestinal Endoscopy.  David is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.  He is an attending in Gastroenterology at North Shore University Hospital at Manhasset, St. Francis Hospital, and North Shore University at Glen Cove.

David has a working medical knowledge in Spanish and he has volunteered on medical missions to Latin America, most recently to Ecuador.  He holds memberships in the American College of Gastroenterology, American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and the American Gastroenterological Association.

David’s primary interests include colon cancer screening, advanced endoscopic procedures, pancreatic disease, biliary tract and gallstone disease, acid reflux disease (GERD), upper endoscopy, colonoscopy, and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP).

Outside of medicine, David enjoys traveling, scuba diving, and snow boarding.
 
Alex Novogrudsky, M.D.
Alex Novogrudsky, M.D. graduated from New York University School of Medicine and completed his Internal Medicine residency at New York University/Bellevue Hospital Center. He continued his training as a fellow in Gastroentorology at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein Medical Center and Hepatology and Liver Diseases at Columbia University Medical Center. He has also served as a Clinical Instructor on the Hepatology Liver Transplant service at Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons. Dr Novogrudsky has published numerous articles in leading medical journals and has presented his findings at ACG, AASLD, and American Congress on Transplantation meetings. He has extensive experience in general gastroenterology as well as treating end-stage liver disease, viral hepatitis, and autoimmune hepatitis.

Dr. Novogrudsky joined North Shore Gastroenterology Associates in 2008.  He is on the professional staffs of North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset and Glen Cove, and St. Francis Hospital in Roslyn.

Omer Masood, M.D.

Omer Masood, M.D. graduated from St. Georges University School of Medicine and completed his Internal Medicine residency at Nassau University Medical Center. He continued his training there as a Fellow in Gastroenterology. Dr. Masood served as a Clinical Instructor at the Pritzker School of Medicine at the University of Chicago. His areas of expertise include hepatology, therapeutic endoscopy, and esophageal diseases.
